The qualities of earth are cool, dry and feminine. Passive. Think of Mother Earth. Here we find the virginal maiden clutching a sheaf of wheat.
Virgo is a mutable earth sign. Mutable signs come at the end of one season and before the beginning of another, so they are a period of transitioning, hence a little more flexible.
Earth signs are grounding and offer stability. The way an earth sign can be flexible is by seeing where structure needs to be and organizing it. Virgos change their environment to give it more structure. They see where they can help out. They tend to be tidy. They will always strive to leave a place better than they found it.
The practical, slow movements of earth support Virgos in being more analytical and purpose driven. While they are capable of taking on responsibility and large tasks, they don’t rush into projects without thinking them through. They want something to be productive, and they nurture dreams into reality through hard work and planning. They will figure out how they need to shift in order to make that happen, but they want stability in whatever is going on. Virgos are the ultimate organizers.
