The Power of Symbolism

The Power of Symbolism

From the hieroglyphics of Ancient Egypt in 3000 BC to the emojis on your iPhone today, we continue to use symbols as a way to convey meaning, connect quickly to a message, and find use in everything from sacred rituals to marketing.

The circle seemed to choose me.

Before My Sacred Circles had a name, I had a vision of what I’d like my life to look like. I wanted to reduce my carbon footprint, build community, help others, continue to learn about the things that interest me most, and explore my own spirituality through different vehicles and mediums.

In my mind’s eye, I clearly saw a location. My husband (Jim) and I were living in a yurt. We had a medicine wheel, a labyrinth, a fire circle, circles of support, reiki circles, and a drumming circle. These were My Sacred Circles in wait.

Beyond the feminine divine or sacred geometry, suddenly the circle came to symbolize so much more for me.

I wasn’t alone.

People for thousands of years have used the circle to symbolize many things.

A wedding ring symbolizes the eternal bond shared.

A simple circle represents the element aether, the expansive space where all else is contained.

The tao symbol visually depicts the ideal balance of yin and yang energy in each of us.

Even dating back as early as the 11 century BC, the ouroboros beautifully conveys the cycle of life, birth, death, and rebirth through the imagery of a snake eating its own tail.

Whether it is a sun symbol, celtic knot, the Vegvesir, the seed of life, or a peace sign, these universal symbols carry profound meaning to many.

The sacred geometry of the circle is used in healings with genesa crystals, offers protection using witch’s balls, and improves the energy of you and your environment through feng shui.

To Everything There is a Season

In 2020, I got a lot of messages that I was not to wait for My Sacred Circles to be a location. The message was clear that it was to begin now online. In some ways this excited me to be finally starting this. The overarching emotion, though, was “What?” “How?”

Symbolism and intention have the ability to hold great power towards cutting away the old, making way for the new – planting seeds of intention. They help to serve as reminders, help guide us in the right direction, and help us to focus more intently to give more power behind bringing our will to light.

In fact, when I decided to launch My Sacred Circles, it was not happenstance that I launched it on the Vernal Equinox. Spring is the season of new beginnings. The light of the world is in balance. We begin to see signs of growth each spring.

So while My Sacred Circles future of labyrinths, yurts, and drum circles await our retirement years, we leap into today to accomplish what we can do right now.

With the help of my husband, the vision of My Sacred Circles evolves to an online forum to learn, grow, build community, and help others today… because we live “just for today”. Visual tools can guide us today and lead us along the paths we seek for tomorrow.

Symbols You’ll See at My Sacred Circles

I embrace many symbols: runes, chakra symbols, astrological, numerological, animal totems… My site will share these with my circle through blogs, videos, and activities. I often make use of symbolism in meditation to help make abstract ideas more concrete.

Often, you’ll find that the topics align with the phases of the moon. As the new moon begins, it is a time of setting intentions. With the waxing of the moon, you work towards manifestation. After the full moon, as the moon begins to wane, it is a time to release and let go.

I have taken great care to make sure that there are always topics to assist you during these times to optimize your efforts in your spiritual journey.
